This baby card features both real and faux stitching as per the challenge with Hand Stamped Sentiments here.
It was fun to get my sewing maching out and do some sewing again. It's been a while since I've done that. Initially I had a problem working the foot pedal of the machine as I have an Air boot on my right foot which is the foot I normally use to operate the sewing machine. First I was sewing too slowly, then all of a sudden it sped up too fast - so finally I switched feet and walla - sewing!! I can certainly understand now why the doctor told me I couldn't drive a car until I was no longer wearing a boot.
Pleated Accent:
Cut a piece of Nursery Nest designer paper about 3 3/4 by 12", and score every 1/4".
Fold
Stitch along the edge of each fold - I used a straight stitch
Round bottom corners
Making Card:
Round corner of So Saffron card
Adhere pleated accent
Make a scallop border using Marina Mist card stock
Adhere to left side of card overlapping the pleated accent
Wrap white satin ribbon around scallop border. Tie bow and adhere
Punch green owl from the other side of the patterned paper using a 1 1/4" punch.
Do faux stitching around edge of this circle using a basic black journalling marker.
Use a 1/16" circle punch to make a hole in the top. Tie white baker's twin to it and attach the owl to the bow.
Stamp sentiment in basic black ink on Whisper White card stoc and punch with 3/4 by 15/16" oval punch. Do faux stitching around this oval.
Layer sentiment on Word Label punchie in Pear Pizzazz, followed by 1 3/4 by 7/8" Marina Mist Oval.
Rhinestone accents were used at the top and bottom of the ribbon, and in the upper right corner, as well as on either side of the sentiment. Tiny pearls were put in the owl's eyes.
