A Countryside Happy Father's Day - Creative Sketches Challenge

This week's challenge with Creative Sketches here is not only a sketch challenge, but also a technique challenge.  The image is to be colored using chalk pastels.

This card has a story attached to it.

When I was about 7 years old, we lived on a farm.  Our family had emigrated from Holland only the year before and we lived, and my father worked, on the farm in lieu of paying rent.  When there were special things happening on the farm, like collecting the sap to make maple syrup or picking apples to go to market, my sisters and I were always able to tag along.  The owner of the farm had a blue pick up truck very similar to the one on the card, and we all used to pile in the cab and go to the orchard to pick apples.  I can still smell the apples ripe on the trees and hear everyone's chatter as we cheerily collected the crop.  It's amazing how many memories one pick up truck can bring.

Anyway, enough reminiscing---here's my card for this challenge:

Stamps: Countryside, Plane & Simple
Inks: Chalk Pastels, Not quite Navy, Basic Black
Papers: Not quite Navy, Sahara Sand, Nautical Expedition Desiger Paper, Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla
Accessories: Curly Label Punch, Twine, dimensionals
