The Colour of Red - a successful Olympics

/Wow!!
The bars were packed and tension was thick when the U.S tied the hockey game with only 30 seconds left in the third period.  And when Sidney Crosby (Sid the Kid -the sexy hockey player) scored for Canada in overtime, the country went wild. Many were sure Canada was going to win, others weren't.  The lady at my local drug store stated that her husband told her with certainty "Sidney is going to score the final goal".  He didn't know how he knew, but he did.
Patrons at bars in Vancouver started randomly hugging each other and buying each other drinks soon after the win.  There was a spontaneous singing of O Canada nd again when the medals were awarded.
Outside on the streets, people were honking their horns and shouting "Let G o Canada!" from their balconies.
I'm not usually not a patriotic person, but this event gave me a shot in the arm.
So many people had so many wonderful memories of the games - the most gold medals for any country during the winter Olympics, the win of the women's hockey team, watching the ice-dancing champions Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, the win of the first gold by Alexandre Bilodeau (the mogul skier) - and to see the reaction from his brother Frederic, who has cerebral palsy, gold for the men's curling team, and silver for the women's (they should have gotten gold)
The media coverage was stupendous and I'm proud to say that my son was part of that.  He was doing his student internship with the CBS Olympic media consortium, and what an experience he had.
I feel really proud to be Canadian.
The closing ceremonies were awesome! I loved the way fun was made of our unique 'quirks".
For those of you south of the border who watched and commented positively on the Olympics I thank you very much.  USA did extremely well in the medal division as well.  Koodoos to us all!!
