Purses Made with 6 by 6" DSP - a video tutorial

 I made quite a few of these little purses for my craft show last weekend (May 2022).  A candy was put in each one with a "thank you" sentiment on the outside.  Anyone who made a purchase at my table was given a little purse as a thank you.

Quite a number of people asked me to write a tutorial on how to make these little purses, so I made a video instead.  You can see it on You Tube here or view it on this blog below:

As I have mentioned, all you need is a 6 by 6" piece of DSP and some other scraps of DSP.

Snowflake Wishes with a WOW background - with Video

 For the last couple of days I have been obsessed with Snowflakes, especially Snowflakes on WOW backgrounds- backgrounds created by adding ink to coloured card stock,  e.g two shades of blue to Real Red card stock, to Pacific Point, and Gorgeous Grape card stock,  using blender brushes.

In creating cards in all those colour combinations, I used a carry over stamp set and coordinating dies, Snowflake Wishes with Snowflake dies.

Here is one of the cards as well as a video tutorial on how I created the background and put the card together.

Stamp:  Snowflake Wishes

Dies:  Snowflake Dies

Papers:  Thick Basic White, Gorgeous Grape, Basic White, Gold Foil

Accessories:  Blender brushes, Foam Adhesive, White acrylic paint

Background

The background is created by applying the following colours of ink on Gorgeous Grape card stock:  Misty Moonlight, Night of Navy, and Basic Black using a blender brush.  See video for technique

Diluted white acrylic paint is splattered on the finished background to give the appearance of snow (stars)

A slim line card.  Snow flakes a various sizes are embossed with gold embossing powder on Real Red card stock.  Gold foil snow flakes are layered before being added onto a gold foil stitched circle die.

Calendar Card Tutorial and a Video

 I realize it is early to think of Christmas presents although I have already started my Christmas cards.  However I wanted to share the idea of the Calendar card and make a video tutorial showing you how I made it.

The Mossy Meadow card base is 4 1/4 by 11" scored at 5 1/2" to form a top folding card. A 4 by 5 1/4" piece of Beauty of the Earth DSP was add to the card front.

At the bottom of the card, I insert an ease -like reinforcement so the card could stand up independently. The insert is made by scoring a 4 1/4 by 3" piece of the same colour of cardstock at 1/2, 1 1/2. and 2 1/2" on the 3" side. Burnish the folds well by first folding it in the middle, and folding the outer 1/2'" Tabs in the opposite direction.  I used tear and tape adhesive to adhere it to the bottom of the card.

Tip:  Remove cover of tape on one side only and add this to the back of the card and then remove the cover of the other tab and adhere

I purchased the small calendars from Frog's Whiskers Ink in Campbellford, Ont. This was matted with a 2 1/8 by 3 1/8" piece of Mossy Meadow card stock. 

                                                                                                                                    

To decorate the calendar card, I first die cut a piece of Basic White card stock using the Scallop contour die.   I laid the calendar at the bottom to determine where to stamp my images.

I used the tree tops from he Beauty of Friendship stamp set to stamp small trees.  The two trees were stamped first in Old Olive ink, and then with Mossy Meadow.  Because the trees did not have trunks, I used an Early Espresso marker to draw some trunks. And underneath the trees I stamped some grounding using Smokey Slate ink.   The sentiment was stamped above the trees and the calendar was added below the trees.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    

                                                                                                                

                              The two Real Red die cut  birds were made to look like cardinals by using a Basic Black marker and adding black markings around the neck and head.

A Simple Blackberry Beauty Card and a video

 I don't know why I waited so long to get  this gorgeous Blackberry Beauty DSP!  Once it arrived, I couldn't wait to make a card  - and along with that a video tutorial.

The card front consists almost entirely of the DSP, with minimal stamping from the Nature's Harvest stamp set.

                                                                                                                                                  I made the front of the card 2 different ways.  In one I sponged the edges of the DSP with Early Espresso ink; in the other I did not.

 Below is the card without the sponging.  Although I like it I find the sponging on the edges of the DSP gives the card a more elegant finished look.

Stain Glass Technique for Cards two ways -video

The video tutorial describes how to use 2 methods for creating a stain glass look on cards.  Both techniques use a window sheet or some sort of transparent film like over head projector film, and both use Stazon ink for stamping.

Method 1:

• Stamp image using Black Tuxedo Stazon ink - on Window Sheet
• Colour image using 4 colours of Stampin' Blends - on the wrong side i.e.opposite side of stamping
• Cover entire image with a type of liquid glue that dries clear
• Add dazzling diamonds over entire glued area.  Gently shade off excess
• Set aside to dry
• When dry, trim around image
• Make card

Method 2:

• After colouring image as in Method 1, add glimmer paper using glue dots
• trim around image
• butterfly above uses this method

Happy Hello Simply Sent Treat Holder - a video tutorial

On the Control Freaks blog on the weekend, I saw a cute box made by Lisa Maftz using the Happy Hello Simply Sent card from the Sale-a-Brations Simply card set.  Then a couple of days ago Barb Mullikin put a free tutorial on her blog on how to make this box.
This video also shows you how to make this box, but I have changed the scoring dimensions somewhat slightly.  Check out the video and see.

Video Tutorial - Lattice Die Ornament
