Fa la la Merry Mice

The heat has finally broken! It rained all day yesterday, rain that was sorely needed. Environment Canada announced yesterday that July was the hottest on record, and August will probably be the same. We didn't need Environment Canada to tell us that! I'm back to making Christmas cards today, giving you a sneak peak of another card in the new catalogue - "Merry Mice". I just love those little critters (on paper only)- they're so cute!

This 5 by 5" Garden Green card is layered with Whisper White, and then 3 different patterns from the "Warmth & Cheer" DSP stack.  A 1" Cherry cobbler ribbon is placed over middle of the card to hide the seams

The image is stamped with Black Memento and coloured with ink pads and a blender pen.  It is trimmed, the corners rounded, and then matted with Cherry Cobbler card stock.  A piece of dazzling diamond glimmer paper, die cut with the retired adorning accents die was adhered to the bottom of this piece.

Dazzling diamonds were added to various parts of the mouse as well as on the snowflakes and under his feet.  Wink of Stella added some glam to the mouse's nose, ears and the book he is holding.

This image piece is adhered to the card front using dimensionals.

For the sentiment, first a 2 1/2" scallop circle punched out a cherry cobbler circle.  Dazzling diamonds glimmer paper was punched with the 1 3/4" punch and the two were adhered together.
"Fa la la", from "Seasonal Greetings" was die cut from Red Glimmer paper and adhered across the circle unit.
Hand cut  Ivy leaves  were clustered at the top of the sentiment  unit and the red  berries punched using the  Owl Builder punch.  I had a non SU die which I used to make the black musical notes.  Again, dimensionals were used to attach this unit to the card front.

With the Christmas holidays out of the way, it is now time for me to stock up on Valentine's Day cards. The sketch with Fab Fri here was perfect for making a Valentine's card.

Inks: Versa Mark
Papers: Basic Black, Basic Gray, Real Red, More Amore DSP
Accessories: Full Heart Punch, Hearts a Flutter framelits, Small heart punch, Build an owl punch, rhinestones, Black embossing powder

The hearts were made by first punching out a heart using the full heart punch, and then punching out the center with the heart from the Hearts a Flutter framelits.  The gray heart was punched with the small heart punch.

Merry, Joyful, Happy, Magical Christmas - Sketch Frenzy Friday

What a week it's been.  The weather has turned cooler, the leaves on the trees are starting to change color, and my Tuesday markets are done for another year.  That doesn't mean the craft shows are over, just this one market.  And we mustn't forget Hurrican Isaac - hitting Lousiana exactly 7 years to the day from Katrina.
But, time for another blog hop my friends, as today is Friday.
Today's sketch is by Tammy Fife:

08/31/12 - Tammy Fite

Technique:
The card stock base of Early Espresso is matted with Chevron embossed Very Vanilla.
The two 2 3/8" squares of Candlelight Christmas paper are matted with 2 1/2" pieces of card stock - each a different color.  The brown one with Lucky Limeade; the green patterned one with Early Espresso.
The sentiment was stamped with Early Espresso ink on Very Vanilla card stock, and then the word "Christmas" was colored in with a Lucky Limeade marker and Dazzling diamonds applied. It is matted with Early Espresso card stock, and attached to the card using dimensionals.

Stamp: Seasonal Sayings
Inks: Early Espresso, Lucky Limeade marker
Papers: Early Espresso, Very Vanilla, Candlelight Christmas designer paper, Lucky Limeade
Accessories: Chevron folder, Dazzling diamonds, dimensionals

Now it's your turn to create something.  This sketch is full of possibilities!  When done upload it to the Sketch Frenzy homepage here
