Night of Bethlehem Slider Pull Tab card

For some reason I wanted to make an interactive Christmas card  and what resulted  was a pull tab slider card, using the Night of Bethlehem stamp set

On the top of a 3 3/4 by 5" piece of Whisper White card stock, I stamped the image of the Bethlehem village in Night of Navy, as well as  a cluster of stars. Because these images seemed to dark against Mary and Joseph, they were covered with Vellum.

Using the Classic Label punch, I punched a track about  1/2" from each side (I inserted the punch as far as it would go).

A 1 1/4 by 5" strip (the pull tab) was laid behind this track, and after turning the card front over, strips of foam tape were applied above and below the tab as well as the bottom of the card front.

Turning the card front back over, a double layer of small dimensionals was placed in the far left track to act as a stop. The protective cover on these dimensionals was not removed.  A row of 3 more small dimensionals was added to the pull tab, and a Sparkle Oval punchie was added to this pull tab. Three regular size dimensionals was placed on the top of this punchie

A 3 by 5" of Night of navy cardstock with a strip of Sparkle glitter paper on top was adhered using strips of foam tape on 3 sides, over the track.

The stamped and die cut Mary and Joseph was added to the punchie with them extending  over the 3 by 5 Night of Navy card stock. A practice pull movement successfully moved the two on their donkey across the desert.

The sentiment, embossed in gold, was punched and added to the underside of Mary and Joseph only so that it moved when Mary and Joseph moved.

Finally, a hole was punched in the end of the pull tab and some Baker's twine inserted through it.

Hearts Come Home Lighted Shadow Box - a case

This lighted Shadow Frame box featuring the Hearts Come Home bundle and created by Kathryn Simpson was featured on Demonstrator Planning Place. I was immediately enthralled by the project and decided to make one to see how it went using the  tutorials she made on You Tube.  This tutorial is in 3 parts and are very easy to follow.  Look for   Part 1,  Part 2  Part 3 on You Tube.

It was easier to make than I thought, and I plan on making a number of them for Christmas presents.

Unfortunately I was not able to find a 6 by 6 shadow frame box so I used an 8 by 8" shadow box instead. I managed to find some micro LED lights (20 on a string) and have ordered more from Amazon.

This is the first Shadow Box I made.  I made the background by first clear embossing the snowflakes from the Night of Bethlehem stamp set and the Santa and sleigh from Heart Come Home.  Then I used Night of Navy ink and a sponge to cover the rest of the background, wiping the ink over the embossed images with a paper towel when finished (Embossed Resist Technique). To make the sky look more wintery and snowy I apply Wink of Stella in wispy circles across the sky.

After the background was finished, it was adhered to the thick card board backing of the Shadow Frame with Tear and Tape adhesive.  In the bottom right corner a hole was punched with the Crop-o-dile to allow for the insertion of the microlights.

Three layers of Whisper white cardstock were used to used to die cut the layers - 8 by 5", 8 by 4 inches and 8 by 3".  After die cutting, dimensionals were placed behind the layers.  I might try foam adhesive strips on another project. I decided not to colour the houses as Kathryn did and left then white.

Attaching the lights between the layers using glue dots was a bit tricky but I finally got the hang of it.

The background on this one was made a little differently as I placed a moon in the sky by masking it with a 1 3/8" circle post it note.

This time I used white embossing powder and used the brayer to apply the ink- and find the sky is much brighter.

Christmas Tunnel Card

This month the fun fold challenge with Canadian Die Cut Exchange Group was to make a Tunnel Card.  I checkout several tutorials on You Tube and ended up using the tutorial by Dawn O here

I wanted to make this Tunnel card a Christmas card, and ended up using 3 different stamp sets: Night of Bethlehem, Wise Men from Afar, and Star of Light, as well as 1 set of framelits:  Starlight Thinlets.

This is the front of the card. Images from Night of Bethlehem are white embossed on Night of Navy card stock.

This 4 by 5 1/4" piece of Night of Navy card stock is adhered to the card base, which is Whisper White card stock. When you open the card.....

...there is a tunnel in the center.

The Night of Navy inner part of the card has the same measurements as the card base and is scored at 2 1/8, 4 1/4, and 2 1/8" (turn paper).  In the center I die cut an oval using the layering ovals framelits.


Images from "Wisemen from Afar" and Night of Bethlehem are White Embossed on this inner panel.

This inner panel is adhered to the Whisper White card base at both edges only.

In the center of the oval, on the card base, a sentiment from "Wisemen from Afar" was stamped in Night of Navy Ink.

Then I suspend a die cut star d from the top of the oval with a fishing line.

This is a very easy fold to make an I hope to make many more.

Christmas ornament with Night of Bethlehem

This is one of many ornaments I will make for my up coming craft shows. Because I used half of a 3" plastic ornament I used retired circle framelits to construct this ornament.

The back ground is Night of Navy card stock embossed with Winter Wonder embossing folder with Dazzling Diamonds added to it.

On this surface I added the silhouette of the Bethlehem village die cut in Dazzling Diamond glimmer paper, with the image of Jesus and Mary on the donkey added in front of that.

The Star of Wonder, also die cut with Dazzling Diamond glimmer paper was added over the village silhouette.

I die cut this with the largest of the retired circle framelits and adhered it to a Dazzling Diamond scallop circle using a hot glue gun.  Some glimmer ribbon was adhered around the base of the ornament; a ribbon adhered to the top.

Night of Bethlehem

It's official!!  My favourite stamp set from the new Holiday catalogue (as of today) is the Night of Bethlehem stamp set with the coordinating Bethlehem Edgelits - especially combined with the Winter Wonder Embossing Folder.

Once I got going I couldn't stop making cards using these products!!  I ended up making 5 cards and then a Christmas Ornament in about an hour.

Each card was a little different and highlighted a different stamp or die, but I used only 1 colour scheme:  Night of Navy and Whisper White.

Because I was generous with my use of Dazzling Diamonds it was really hard to take a good picture of the cards.  My apologies for that.

In all instances I started with a card base of Night of Navy card stock, layering it with Whisper White embossed with the Winter Winder Texture Embossing Folder.  I just love that giant snow flake!! After embossing, I applied some adhesive to the raised edges and added Dazzling Details.

The images were stamped with Night of Navy ink and embossed with clear embossing powder, after which they were die cut and added to the bottom of the card.

The sentiment was also clear embossed, matted with Night of Navy card stock and added to the top of the card front.  Done!

For this card, instead of stamping the image, I die cut it from Night of Navy card stock, which I then adhered to the bottom of the card front.
