Happy Trails - Try Stampin on Tuesday #611

I loved going camping when I was a few years younger.  I have fond memories of sleeping in tents (although the mattresses weren't too soft) and making meals over the camp fire - something that might be too dangerous to do today.

So for the themed sketch challenge with Try Stampin on Tuesday #611  I chose to go with a camping theme to reflect "Summer time".  I used the Campology stamp set,

For the focal image, I stamped the larger forest image from the Campology stamp set, on a piece of Basic White card stock and die cut a select square part using the Stylish square die.  Using a blending  brush, I added some blue sky and filled in some Old Olive for grass below the trees.  The bird stamp from "On the Horizon" was used to stamp the birds over the tent.

The tent was stamped separately, coloured, fussy cut and added to the scene using dimensionals. Using a fine black pen I sketched back in the ropes holding the tent secure.

This was added to a Mossy Meadow rectangle embossed with the Rope 3D embossing folder.  Both were added to a piece of Basic White embossed with the Woodlands embossing folder. which in turn was added to a Mossy Meadow card base.

The sentiment was die cut with a small circle Stylish die and added below the image using dimensionals.

The three embellishments beside the image are from the In Color Opal Rounds.

All edges were sponged with Mossy Meadow ink before being added to the card.

Supplies Used:

Stamps:  Campology, On the Horizon

Inks:  Black Memento, Mossy Meadow, Old Olive, Basic Gray, Stampin blends (Daffodil Delight, Wild Wheat, Balmy Blue)

Papers:  Mossy Meadow, Basic White, Pear Pizzazz

Accessories:  Stylish Dies, Rope 3D Embossing folder, Woodlands Embossing folder, Corner Rounder punch, In Color Opal Rounds, Dimensionals

Friends - Vertical Sketch Challenge - Paper Craft Crew Challenge #480

I participate in monthly sketch challenges with an on-line group I belong to. This month I used the sketch from the Vertical sketch challenge with PCC 480  to make the cards for this month.

The topic for this month's challenge is "friends" and I thought the characters, especially the bear and the fox,  from the stamp set "Count on Me" would be perfect for this. So, I stamped them both with Black Memento ink and coloured them using Stampin' Blends after which they were cut out.

The card base is Pear Pizzazz card stock, 4 1/4 by 11" scored at 5 1/2".  This I layered with a 4 by 5 1/4" piece of Rings of Love DSP embossed with the Animal Prints Embossing Folder.

The 4 by 3" Basic White art piece has Balmy Blue and Pear Pizzazz applied using blender brushes. The tree stamped with Pear Pizzazz in the background is from "Campology".

Both images were added to the art piece using tombo glue, after which the completed art piece was added to the card front using dimensionals.

The sentiment is stamped on a strip of Basic white card stock notched at one end.  The edges are sponged lightly with Balmy Blue so that it blends in a bit better.

To complete the art  piece three decorative dots were added to the upper right side.

Supplies Used:

Stamps:  Campology, Count on Me

Inks:  Black Memento, Stampin' Blends (Smoky Slate, Balmy Blue, Basic Black, Cajun Craze), Pear Pizzazz, Balmy Blue

Papers:  Pear Pizzazz, Basic White, Rings of Love DSP

Accessories:  Animal prints embossing folder, Triple punch, Matte Decorative dots, Brushed brass Butterflies, dimensionals

Enjoy Today - Paper Craft Crew Horizontal Sketch Challenge #425

The new Annual catalogue launched yesterday, and I just love all the nature stamps and DSP, including the Campology stamp set and the Beauty of the Earth DSP.

For the horizontal sketch challenge 425 at the Paper Craft Crew Challenges I combined the elements from the Campology stamp set with the Beauty of the Earth DSP.

The Basic White card base is layered with Mossy Meadow card stock followed by the tree patterned page of the Beauty of the Earth DSP.  This paper was the inspiration for this card.
On a separate piece of Basic White card stock, I stamped the image of the tent, coffee pot and cup and binoculars.  After colouring them with Stampin' Blends they were fussy cut and mounted on a strip of Basic White matted with Mossy Meadow card stock using dimensionals.  This strip extended across the entire card front.

At the right end of this strip, an embellishment was added consisting of a piece of braided Burlap ribbon tied with Mossy Meadow Baker's twine.

The sentiment, stamped on Basic White was punched with one end of the Everyday Label punch, was inserted under this strip at the right end.

To finish the card, some Clear Wink of Stella was added to the added elements, and some Noble Peacock rhinestones added randomly on the card front.

Supplies Used:
Stamp:  Campology
Inks:  Black Memento, Stampin' Blends (Smoky Slate, Basic Black, Soft Succulent, Daffodil Delight)
Papers:  Basic White, Mossy Meadow, Beauty of the Earth DSP
Accessories:  5/16" Braided Burlap, Mossy Meadow Baker's twine, Clear Wink of Stella, Dimensionals, Noble Peacock rhinestones

Camping Under the Moon

There’s nothing like camping when there's a full moon.

I created this night scene using 4 different shades of blue, my blender brushes, and the Campology stamp set.

Because there is a full moon in the picture  I applied a post it note punched with a 1 1/4” circle punch at the location of this celestial being.  Then I grabbed my blender brushes and the following shades of blue- Pool Party, Balmy Blue, Pacific Point and Night of Navy ink to create the sky.  I started with the lightest colour first with Night of Navy last.

After the post- note was removed, some Night of Navy ink was sponged around the edges to give it a more 3D look.  Some Night of Navy ink was also pulled across the surface. Mossy Meadow was used for the grass.

Night of Navy ink was used to stamp the tree cluster on the left side. To complete the grass line I turned the stamp upside down, inking only the bottom, grassy area.

The 1/4" crinkled Whisper White ribbon tied around the bottom, was coloured with a Balmy Blue stamp N Blend   and tied into a bow.  The matted sentiment, is added straddling the ribbon,

The binoculars was stamped and coloured on a separate piece of Basic White, then fussy cut.  It was added on the eft side, again straddling the ribbon.

To finish the card, I added some blue rhinestones.

Supplies Used:

Stamp:  Campology

Inks:  Pool Party, Balmy Blue, Pacific Point, Night of Navy, Smokey Slate Stampin' Blends

Papers:  Night of Navy, Basic Black, Basic White

Accessories:  1 1/4" circle punch, 1/4" white ribbon, Dimensionls, Blue rhinestones, White gel pen

Campology - an Old carried into the New

The Campology stamp set - yeah!- is carried over into the new Annual catalogue which debuts May 4.  I have not made any cards with it to date, getting diverted by other stamp sets so today was the day!  And I'm so pleased with the results - what was I waiting for?

Camping season is arriving very quickly, and with the pandemic showing no signs of slowing down, this outdoor activity is sure to be popular.  The campground in my city is already fully booked.

The scene in this card is about as close as I'm going to get to camping.  So, here's my card

Have I mentioned lately that I love the new blender brushes? I used them to create the background for this card. These are the colours I used for the sky:  Daffodil Delight, Blackberry Bliss, Balmy Blue, Night of Navy.  For the grass I used Mossy Meadow.  The trees were stamped with Soft Suede ink, using the coordinating Stamp Blend to fill in the tree trunks.

After I created the sky I stamped the tent in an area where the sky was Daffodil Delight and masked it with a post it note to preserve the spot while I stamped the trees and bushes.  After I removed the mask I added some definition and highlights by colouring with Cajun Craze Stampin' Blend.

The cup and coffee pot were stamped on a separate piece of Basic White and coloured with Smokey Slate stampin' blend.  After fussy cutting , I added it to the lower left of the scene.  The sentiment, stamped  Basic White, was trimmed  before adding it to the left of the Coffee pot.  It seemed very white against the Mossy Meadow background so I added some colour using the blender brush.

To finish the card, I added a bow made with Mossy Meadow Braided linen trim, and some stars in the sky.

Some Basic White was added to the inside.  I stamped part of the trees on the right side,  and with some left over colour on the brushes, some colour was added around them.

Supplies Used:
Stamp:  Campology
Inks:  Black Memento, Daffodil Delight, Blackberry Bliss, Balmy Blue, Night of Navy, Mossy Meadow, Soft Suede, Blends (Smokey Slate, Soft Suede, Cajun Craze), White gel pen
Papers:  Mossy Meadow, Basic White
Accessories:  Blender Brushes, 3/16th " Mossy Meadow Braided Linen Trim
