Frog's Whiskers Ink Cards and More

I have been asked, by Marie Kerr, owner and designer of a lot of the stamps etc at Frog's Whisker's Ink, in Campbellford, Ont. to make cards and more using stamps, dies, etc from their store.
All will be posted on this page.

You will be able to link directly to their blog by clicking on the tab (Frog's Whiskers)  directly under my blog heading.

Here's to the Best Day Ever

Last week I was in the store and purchased 2 wood mount stamps.  Because it was to hot today I decided to stay in and made a card using these items.

I Saw Three Ships

A long time ago I bought a wood mounted stamp with an old fashioned sails on it with a sentiment that goes with it.

Here's the card I made with it :

Here's a close up of the ship

Remember the song "I saw three ships come sailing in on Christmas Day in the Morning"?  When I saw that stamp that song kept ringing in my head all day.

I started on a piece of        card stock, and stamped the two ships, stamping off first to make them look like they were in the distance.  Using a brayer and Basic Gray ink I made streak like motions to make the scene look raining and misty.

The ship was then stamped again on Whisper White, coloured with watercolor pencils and a blender pen, then fussy cut and added to the front with dimensionals.

Then I highlighted just the words "I saw three ships" from the sentiment with a black marker and added it to the card front.  The rest of the sentiment is on the inside of the card.

It's Christmas time and a time for Bethlehem scenes.  I used the Bethlehem scene to make an ornament.

Emboss Resist Spotlight Technique:

This is not my original idea as I stumbled upon a video made by fellow Canadian demonstrator Tina Zinek here and decided to give this technique a try.

I am familiar with the emboss resist technique, and I know the spotlighting technique, but this is a different take on both of these techniques.

  1. Start with 2 piece of Whisper White card stock cut at 3 3/4 by 5"
  2. Using the stamparatus, stamp the desired image using Night of Navy ink on one of the two card stock pieces.  Stamp desired sentiment,
  3. On the second piece of Whisper White card stock, (again using the Stamparatus), stamp the same image in Versa Mark ink and emboss with white embossing powder.
  4. With a brayer, apply Night of Navy ink over the entire image.  With a paper towel wipe off the ink over the embossed surface.
  5. Using a circle die (or square), die cut 3 circles in different areas of the image.
  6. Match these die cuts to the same areas on the original stamped image and adhere.

Use the piece of card stock which was brayered and had the die cut holes in it, to make another      card.  Trim all the part of the Whisper White card stock that has not been brayered and place it on another piece of Whisper White card stock matching the two images.
Some glitter was added.
